For the love of all things holy! Have you ever felt like you have someone or something out to get you? Is there a distraction keeping you from doing the right thing?
On March 1, Mardi Gras kicked off the season of Lent. Historically, Mardi Gras was used as the day before fasting began when Christians would eat rich, fatty foods, in preparation for their upcoming 40-day sacrifice. Another name for this is Fat Tuesday. Did you partake in this religious event?
Ash Wednesday was March 2 and is the 1st day of lent, a 40-day period leading up to Easter. The day we focus on Jesus’ resurrection. This is a period of time where many people fast from eating meat, fast from having sex, or fast from something that would be considered a sacrifice to them (maybe technology, social media, gaming, chocolate, etc.). So, are you fasting this year?
I am! I'll use this time to fast from temptation, avoid sin as much as possible, and examine my daily thoughts and actions to recognize where the evil one is attacking. I will also use our blog posts during Lent to discuss different aspects of spiritual warfare. As Christian soldiers, we need to know who or what is attacking us so we can be prepared to fight back. I invite you to follow along all month to learn all about spiritual warfare.
Ephesians 6:10-18 instructs us to put on the Full Armor of God. This includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit.
I launched His Kingdom Matters in June 2021. It is a ministry to equip and support Christians. I expected some spiritual warfare since I was doing something good for God, but I had not expected it to happen so fast.
Thankfully I was advised by another ministry entrepreneur to get a prayer team fast. I reached out to three women that have been instrumental prayer partners with me in the past, and asked them to lock arms with me in prayer. Do you have a prayer team?
In John 10:10, Jesus proclaims that “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” Have you noticed this happening, especially when you are on a mission to do work for God?
Have you heard of the Businessmen’s Revival? In 1857, Jeremiah Lanphier held the first noon prayer meeting on the 3rdfloor of a dying church. By 12:30, six people had shown up. There were 14 people the next week and 23 people the following week. Within 6-months, there were 10,000 people praying in churches and public buildings in New York City every week at noon. Are you part of a routine prayer meeting? If not, will you consider starting one this month where men pray with men and women pray with women?
Just imagine if we locked arms with one another each week to pray for our family, pray for our city, pray for our business, and pray for each other. I want to encourage you to pray and take steps to guard yourself against a spiritual battle.
Let us know in the comments below how you are guarding yourself against spiritual warfare.
